Chiropractor Jefferson City MO Derrijk Hollon Meet The Team

CHIROPRACTOR

Derrijk Hollon, D.C., A.T.C.

Jefferson City
Dr. Derrijk Hollon, D.C., A.T.C. attended Central College of Iowa in Pella, Iowa, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science, with an emphasis in Athletic Training and Kinesiology. Shortly after graduating from Central, Dr. Derrijk began working in a chiropractic office as a rehabilitation specialist.

While in the chiropractic office, he ultimately made the decision to become a chiropractor. Dr. Derrijk enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa, and started shortly thereafter. Besides getting a great education, he obtained extra clinical experience by working for and being mentored, by some of the greatest chiropractors the world has known, through the Troxell Intern Program and Gonstead Methodology Institute. He was awarded the Diagnosis Certificate of Merit for his work in the Athletic Training Lab on the Palmer campus. Dr. Derrijk continues to consult with his mentors for guidance while attending and teaching at seminars hosted by both the Troxell Intern Program and Gonstead Methodology Institute.

The experience and knowledge I have gained, by listening to and then teaching alongside those doctors, has proved invaluable to my patients.

I Could Not Lift My Arm Due To The Pain

I was playing middle linebacker for my high school football team during my senior year. During one game, I tackled the opposing team’s ball carrier. Our momentum caused us to both land on my right shoulder. By the end of the game, I could barely lift my arm due to the pain. My high school’s team doctor was a chiropractor and adjusted my shoulder. My parents took me to see him at his chiropractic office every day the next week, and I was able to play in the game that next Friday night.

Chiropractor California MO Hilary Wendell

Chiropractor

Hilary Wendell, D.C.

Jefferson City & California
Dr. Hilary Wendell, D. C. attended The University of Wisconsin-Madison, WI, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. Shortly after graduation, Dr. Hilary enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received an Academic Excellence Award.

In addition to receiving a great education, she gained extra clinical experience by working for and being mentored, by some of the greatest chiropractics in the world, through the Troxell Intern Program and Gonstead Methodology Institute. After dedicating over 1,000 hours of additional study outside of Palmer through the Troxell Intern Program, she was awarded the “White Rabbit” award for her excellence and determination in the study of the Gonstead System of Chiropractic. Dr. Hilary also continues to consult with her mentors for guidance while attending and teaching at seminars hosted by both the Troxell Intern Program and Gonstead Methodology Institute.

The insight and wisdom we experience by working alongside such prestigious chiropractors are second to none. While completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin, I took a class on human physiology that really sparked my interest to dig deeper into how the body functions and maintains itself. The human body is fascinating in that it is a self-healing, self-regulating organism that, with proper care, can allow us to achieve our ultimate potential. It was this spark that led me to chiropractic and put me on the mission to help others unlock their inborn potential through chiropractic.

Specific Care for Your Family’s Specific Needs!

In the fall of 2012, both Dr. Hilary and Dr. Derrijk had the wonderful opportunity to travel to IIheus, Brazil on a chiropractic mission trip with Palmer College of Chiropractic. A group of chiropractic students made the journey to South America to provide chiropractic care to a community that did not ordinarily have access to a chiropractor. During the week that the team was there, approximately 3,000 people from the city and surrounding communities traveled to the temporary clinic doctors set up beneath the bleaches of the city’s soccer stadium to receive chiropractic care. The experience touched both doctors deeply as they were able to help bring hope and relief from pain to the people there.

We have the Greatest Job in the World

“If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life, and we love chiropractic!”

- Dr. Hilary and Dr. Derrijk

Every day Dr. Hilary and Dr. Derrijk get to assist people, putting a smile on their face and a skip in their step, all through helping them regain their health. When humans are healthy and feel good, they tend to take their health for granted. However, when something goes wrong, they are suddenly faced with the stark reality that, without their health, very little else matters. Dr. Hilary and Dr. Derrijk look forward to talking to people and walking them through their specific health problems. The doctors explain the causes of their patient’s problem, how to correct it, and then how to avoid it in the future. This is where Dr. Hilary and Dr. Derrijk have the biggest impact, not only on that individual but everyone they influence; their family, friends, co-workers-anyone with whom they have a connection. By looking at all the different parts of a patient’s clinical picture, their nervous system, x-rays, posture, movement, symptoms, and lifestyles, Dr. Hilary and Dr. Derrijk are so enthusiastic about what they do.

Outside Hollon Family, Chiropractic

Dr. Hilary and Dr. Derrijk met while attending Palmer College of Chiropractic. They greatly enjoy spending time in the great outdoors: hiking, camping, swimming, ice fishing, biking, or picking up a game of volleyball or disc golf. Family is very important to them, and they try to spend as much time as they can with their families in both Wisconsin and Missouri.

Dr. Hilary and Dr. Derrijk are very involved in the Jefferson City community and are members of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson City Young Professionals, Jefferson City Jaycees, Jefferson City West Side Business Association, and Jefferson City Homebuilders Association. Dr. Derrijk is a board member for the Special Learning Center and is also a member of the Jefferson Masonic Lodge #43 AF&M. Regularly, they work with organizations such as the Special Olympics of Missouri, Special Learning Center, American Cancer Society, The Young Wanted Baseball, and Jefferson City Public Schools as a means to give back to a community that has given them so much. To date, Hollon Family Chiropractic has raised thousands of dollars for these charities and organizations that aid those in the Jefferson City community.

Why I am a Doctor of Chiropractic:

Because I honor the inborn potential of everyone to be truly healthy. Because I desire to help the newborn, the aged, and those without hope. Because I choose to care for the patient with the disease, not the disease. Because I wish to assist rather than intrude; to free rather than control. Because I seek to correct the cause, not its effect. Because I know doctors do not heal, only the body can heal itself. Because I have been called to serve others. Because I want to make a difference. Because every day I get to witness miracles. Because I know it is right.

“The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”

Savannah Voelker, D.C.

After receiving her associate degree, Dr. Savannah completed a nine-month course to become a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, while working as a fitness instructor and rehabilitation aide at a physical therapy clinic.

In 2019, she moved to Atlanta, GA to begin Chiropractic School at Life University.

I didn’t choose Chiropractic, Chiropractic chose me.

Growing up, I was interested in just about anything that was considered science, and I knew that one day I would use science to improve people’s lives. I have always loved working one on one with people, so in high school, I decided that I wanted to be a physical therapist and began shadowing a PT in my free time. After discussing my goals for my career and my life, this PT suggested that I speak with a local chiropractor, the same chiropractor, in fact, that my mother had just made an appointment with. During the visit, the doctor explained to us that chiropractic is more than “popping bones” and that the nervous system that controls all functions of the body must be uninhibited to properly heal and maintain the body. Following this appointment, not only was my mother seeing major improvements, but I was hooked on chiropractic, specifically Gonstead Chiropractic, and pursued it relentlessly.

While in school, I had the opportunity to work as a chiropractic assistant for a Gonstead chiropractor near the school. I was also an active member of the Gonstead Club and was eventually honored to lead as the president of the club. I was blessed to learn directly from a few of the greatest Gonstead chiropractors in the world through the many seminars and workshops that I attended throughout my time in school. Upon graduation, I was recognized for my research with chiropractic care, stress, and the autonomic nervous system. I am excited to continue learning throughout my career and hope to teach in the future, and I would like to continue to contribute to chiropractic research.

Why am I a Chiropractor?

I’ve always known I wanted to be in a profession where I could help people however I was unsure how I wanted to do that. While in college, I worked in a Chiropractic office as a chiropractic assistant. While working for the chiropractic office the chiropractor educated me on what chiropractic truly was, I also was able to witness lives he changed with his work. Working for a chiropractor fuelled by passion for chiropractic and I began pursuing a career in chiropractic. My favorite part of my job is helping my patients live their lives to the fullest without worrying about pain. I love working with patients of all ages, however I have a passion to help women and mothers improve their quality of lives pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, and post pregnancy.
